I’ve been going through a comfy lingerie phase recently, forgoing some of my fancier lacy pieces for ones that are sturdy and breathable. Of course, this means I’ve been doing quite a bit of shopping, and I’ve come across some lovely sets that prove to be gorgeous, comfortable, and perfectly patterned for spring.

Comfort can mean different things to different people, but for the most part when I’m seeking comfy lingerie, I look for several main features. Bamboo fiber, breathable mesh, jersey, cotton, and velvet are some of the softest fabrics you can wear. Wireless and without moulding, bralettes are my obvious go-to for comfort up top; I also prefer band-cup sizing (for example, a 34B size bralette as opposed to small/medium/large sizing) to ensure superior fit. As for bottoms, anything roomy – especially bloomers, tap pants, or high-waisted knickers – complete the look.

Below, I’ve focused on soft or light and breathable fabrics, that you’ll barely notice are there as the weather warms.

urban bird clothing blue blossom handmade bralette set

Urban Bird Blossom bralette, £32 (~$44 / ~36€) and thong, £23 (~$31 / ~26€)

The cotton fabric on this set oozes cosiness, and pastel florals make it perfect for spring. Adjustable straps and band-cup sizing mean the bralette will be flattering and well-fitted to your body. Even better, Urban Bird is happy to accommodate if your size isn’t listed.

Jordan de Ruiter Garden set, $79 (~£58 / ~66€)*

Jordan de Ruiter Garden set, $79 (~£58 / ~66€)*

I recently discovered Jordan de Ruiter and was blown away by her delicate, whimsical designs. I love the subtleties of this set; the 3D flowers on the bralette and the tiny bee on the high-waisted knickers are easy to miss at first glance, though they add such character and intricacy to the pieces. And it feels as good as it looks – this set boasts a breathable, stretchy mesh, with adjustable bralette straps and a cotton gusset. Matching low-rise knickers are also available.*

DW by Danielle Wood Madame Moss velvet longline bralette, $65 (~£48 / ~54€) and high-waisted brief, $45 (~£33 / ~38€)*

DW by Danielle Wood Madame Moss velvet longline bralette, $65 (~£48 / ~54€) and high-waisted brief, $45 (~£33 / ~38€)*

My favourite part of spring is watching the moss and saplings bloom into colour after months of greys and browns, and this set beautifully captures that colour for me. Made with soft velvet, and backed by Danielle Wood’s reputation for high-quality, high-comfort pieces, this set is perfect for a cool spring day.

Underprotection Babette bralette, 1,200Kr. (~£142 / ~$193 / ~161€) and knickers, 300Kr. (~£36 / ~$48 / ~40€)

Danish brand Underprotection gives equal weight to ethics and aesthetics, creating styles with recycled fabrics and fair labour practices. In addition to being gentle on the environment, this set from the current year’s collection is made from lyocell fabric, designed to be strong, absorbent, and soft on your skin. Underprotection even has a webpage dedicated to explaining how their chosen fabrics are comfortable for us and great for the environment.

Primrose and Pixie Organic Cotton Swan Print camisole & shorts set, £90 (~$122 / ~102€)

Made from organic cotton and with a breezy fit, these bloomers come as a set with a loose-fitting camisole to create the most adorable springtime loungewear set.

Ohhh Lulu Boheme bralette, $60 (~£44 / ~50€) and knickers, $29 (~£21 / ~24€)*

Ohhh Lulu designs are meant to be soft and unstructured, and this set is no exception. It’s crafted from cotton lyrca jersey meant to ensure comfort and stretch. The bralette features hook-and-eye closure, adjustable straps, and band-cup sizing to ensure a great fit. Not to mention how lovely the pink floral lace looks beside the floral print.

Uye Surana Luxe Lauren bralette, ~$92, (~£68 / ~77€) and Simple Little Panty, $35 (~£26 / ~29€)*

Uye Surana has set out to break the mold of bralettes lacking comfort and support for bigger busts. Band-cup sizing stretches impressively from a 28A to a 42H on this set. From silk cups to adjustable straps and the added support of elastic, this set prioritises comfort, and the soft rose colour is perfect for the season. The matching knickers have a 100% cotton lining, and range in size from XS to 3XL.

Thief and Bandit Thistle bralette & brief set, $82 (~£60 / ~68€)

Jersey is a stretchy, lightweight fabric which has been associated with undergarments for over a century. Thief and Bandit use it to provide ultra-comfort in their sets, providing 4-5” of extra stretch.

Sugar Lace Lingerie Gingham Bunny crop top & thong set, $68 (~£50 / ~57€)*

If you’ve read my past review of Sugar Lace Lingerie, you know how much I love this brand. In particular, the mesh Adrienne uses on her designs is so comfortable and breathable it feels like cotton. Combined that with cotton jersey and a white and pink gingham print for an amazingly comfy and cute set!

Econica Violet Print bralette, $75 (~£55 / ~63€) and brief, $42 (~£31 / ~35€)*

This set particularly speaks to me as the violets are beginning to pop up around my neighborhood. Made from cotton satin and lined with an organic cotton jersey, this set is built for comfort. Thicker straps are available to provide extra support for larger busts.

Does your lingerie tend to change with the seasons? What are your go-to fabrics for maximum comfort?
